@KKGator lmao! Yep! As an adult I only spend it with those who make me happy, doing what also makes me happy

@Livinlife There have been a number of holidays that I've spent by myself for that very reason. At first, years ago, it used to make me feel really lonely and sad.
I totally got over that, and now I revel in being solitary.
I appreciate the peace and quiet.

@KKGator as a kid I hated Thanksgiving. We went to my aunt and uncle's house where the women and girls, including myself, cooked and washed dishes while the men sat on their asses and watched football all damn day. Not anymore. I only spend it with my kids and their significant others, certain specific family members who I enjoy and assorted friends who I also enjoy. Up until this year I worked every other holiday. I have to admit there were years that I volunteered to work Thanksgiving for someone else

I'd sign up to work and say I was doing it so other people could be with

It was FAR more about the money
(the hospitals usually paid double time and a half for holidays + shift differential, and I worked 3rd--I would earn in one night what usually was a regular week's pay),
and avoiding another religious dog and pony show.

@KKGator i work at a hospital myself. The money was certainly a factor. I figured if I'm going to work I may as well get paid for it. I loved spending time with my sons, just not always my ex inlaws. Wheres my vomit emoji??
Christmas was never religious for me personally, and was fortunate to find others to work for me when my guys were young
