Isn't this kind of proving the point of the saying? The saying is referring to not being able to be friends with people you're attracted to and remain just friends.

@JeffMurray I have female friends that are just that, friends. It's not like my lovers were the only female friends I've had. & many of those lovers remained just friends afterwards. Hopefully that clears that up.

@JeffMurray & to clarify, I find the vast majority of women attractive, to one extent or the other, so I'm likely to be at least somewhat attracted to them & still more than happy to have them as friends.

Am I friends with women in attracted to? Yes.
Would I smash if given the chance? Yes.
Has wanting to bone (with or without anything happening) ruined a friendship. Yes.
Can being friends with people you're attracted to cause problems in your relationship? Most definitely.
So is it possible? Sure, but difficult.

@OldMetalHead Well, it'd have to be, no? Otherwise you'd probably not be just friends. This is all from someone who's unmarried, though. Don't know what it's like for married folk, but it seems like it would pose problems...
