A little off topic, but I think it's important,

Don't ask me why man made disasters fascinate me, maybe because I've spent most of my life fixing things.
All the studies and investigations have been done and published about Deep Water Horizon. I've been through at least a half dozen different narratives about what happened. I'm no expert, and don't pretend to be one. It doesn't take a expert to see that it would have taken a miracle to move that rig successively.
Cluster fuck doesn't even begin to describe what happened. Anybody that has watched the movie, there is no set procedure for doing a negative pressure test. The bladder effect is a real thing, just not what was going on. They really sent the people off that were going to do the cement bond log. This is a good one, Haliburton supplied the cement, and instead of slurry, they used cement infused with nitrogen, which means there were voids in the cement. The riser they used needed to be in the center in order to get the cement all the way around. There are centering collars to keep it centered, the engineer called for 21 of these collars, they used just 6.
Almost forgot the negative pressure on the kill line, showed no flow because it was blocked.
Only about half of the BOP was working, and the riser wasn't centered, that's why the blind shear didn't work.
They didn't do the cement bond log, and didn't use all the collars, because it would put moving back another day.
Like I said you don't have to be a expert to see they were doomed from the start.
The guy Mark Wahlberg played, was on 60 minutes went through his experience from the start, all the way to when he got off the rig.

The usual slip shod work done to save money. In the end it cost a lot of money, reputation, lives and the environment. I remember hearing an interview with the CEO of BP several months before the accident. He kept saying how much BP cared for the environment and steps they were taking to protect it. The usual corporate BS. Remember the adage, trust but verify should apply. Maybe the tRump supporters need a lesson in this as well.
