The most unaware "Awareness Day" in America was yesterday.
It's fitting that it is accompanied by the least aware "Awareness Month" in America.
June Is Gun Violence Awareness Month

Four of the six attached screenshots are the entire search history on Google for "Gun violence awareness day."
A couple of professional athletes and their teams wore orange for the occasion. There were a few gatherings/protests, but for the most part, the whole day was fairly ignored by Americans and American media, preferring to cover the nightmare train wreck (it is actually two trains colliding) in India. Yes, 288 people are confirmed dead and over 900 injured, which is tragic. But we've allowed 651 children/teens, aged 12-17, to be killed by gun violence since January 1 of this year alone. They're have been 269 mass shootings in 2023 already. India's train wreck really has nothing on American gun violence. America is a trainwreck.
#smh
(And whoever decided orange was a fitting color to commemorate gun violence either didn't think that through, or ignored the fact that orange is synonymous in America with criminals and the "justice system" that fails us all. There's a fairly sick irony in that.)
America is on part to nearly double gun violence deaths in 2023, than 2022.
I was not aware that there was a Gun Violence Awareness Day. Though, not sure how anyone in the U.S. could NOT be aware of the rampant gun violence in this country.
Sadly...I concur. I even wore an orange shirt the day afterwards.
America is still pro-gun ownership.
