My buddy of almost a year is my bird. He was a rescue, and I'd not spent much time with birds before.
He was around 10, when he came to live here, and had spent most of that time in his covered cage, ignored by the dog focused family. They feed him, cleaned his cage, etc., and if he got loose, he was grabbed quickly, (cause the dogs might eat him), but it caused him to be afraid of hands.
It's almost a year now, we had to learn each other's languages and signals and limits.
Now he's my buddy, sits on my shoulder, preens my hair, has the run of the house often, and imitates my tic tic tic noise, and whistles.
His name is Sassy, short for Sasquatch, the shy little monster!
PS, I've had great dogs, wonderful cats, and uncomfortable various other animals.
Sassy is very different, but we've got a great bond.

Posted by fotol8yI rescued this little guy about 8 months ago. He has FOPS and though he seems happy while he is near or on me, I think he is in a lot of pain and isn't putting on weight. Very worried about him.

Posted by Falsifiable1Added a Russian Blue kitten to the family. He’s fearless and just a furrball of energy. So far, my two year old cat hasn’t warmed up to him, but its only been a few days.
