I published this in 1990, in a Lutheran Journal of all places - actually, a Lutheran friend submitted it after I read it at a xmas party. Seems to hold some relevance even now.
HYPOCRISY (An Incantation Indicting Injustice)
stinging names, slashing stares, backwards glances.
hidden natures of men in hoods of white,
christening christiandom with the light of christ’s candle.
oil magnates entertain hostile take over bids
and serve fish eggs to friends in tunics of white,
casually dressed princes of petroleum.
wars and justice.
peace initiatives only cover politicians’ wishes.
hidden asses in large cars deal our lives, our souls.
at schools, teachers and students suffocate in a system
bankrupt: morally and economically bereft of society.
tears on windowpanes leave streaks.
tears on windowpanes scream out the agony of those trapped.
niggers and chicks,
faggots and spics,
jews, wops, daggos, pollocks,
retards and bleeding hearts.
hate and hypocrisy hold hands and stand cheek-to-cheek
in every community is this, so called, great expanse
of land, where once the torch shone for liberty.
santa claus’s fat, jolly cheeks, red nose, puffed eyes
and rotund figure mirror society’s slavish ways.
god like, santa, prostituting his name for the glory of good will,
only comes to those who can pay for his services.
friends and lovers - in truth, how well do they fare in the weather
of storms and truth bashing gales of great gusto?
sinners, saints, fools on the edge,
i call you forth to join in the quest.
seek truth and honest behavior in sisterhood and brotherhood.
in reality, hypocrisy will only end
when the flaming flamingoes fly forth,
never piloting a return to the sunny shores.
Posted by EntheogenFanI wrote this about a crazy girl who I loved like crazy. She made my entire life feel like insanity.
