A delightful song of girly thoughts from three Sydney sisters. But is it really folk music or just desperately trying to find a box to sit in.
The pseudo American accent imo would be better lost.
No this is pretty typical country music in the Dolly Parton style. It is not folk music in that it is not telling a story or describing a situation. It is just another crying into your beer love song. The beat is Country as well. Unlike M I did not like the twang of her voice.
I call it American styled pap having a 3 month shrlf life. This may last a little longer given the paucity of the competition. They are young but unlikely to be wisely advised that to write & create what becomes tradition is priceless, to write & create a hit that simply makes money is simply crass.
I would describe it as in the folk music style. It’s now a very loosely interpreted genre and can describe almost any narrative set to acoustic instruments or unaccompanied. I can’t detect any pseudo American accents in the singing whatsoever, in fact it sounds quite English and without either Aussie or US twangs, for that Im grateful as around here, and in Ireland generally they love to sing American country songs with affected American twangs...yuk! I actually rather liked this little ditty and the voices were pleasant.
Apart from my concerns I also found it very "catchy". I think that there is also an ugly god reference.
@FrayedBear Really? Must’ve missed it.
@Marionville Read the lyrics.
@FrayedBear I tend to prefer to just listen to music...not read words, , as I’m usually doing something else while I’m listening,
@Marionville It's not supposed to be muzak! Shock horror!
@FrayedBear Do you feel it merits my undivided attention? I was listening to it whilst I was eating my breakfast....so sorry!
@Marionville I don't use my eyes continuosly to eat!
@FrayedBear I don’t have my eyes glued to my iPad whilst I eat...sorry.
