After yesterday’s post by @Dede18 it got me remembering Steve Biko and the days of the black South African struggle against apartheid. They made a movie a few years after his death in police custody in 1977, starring Denzel Washington as Biko and Kevin Kline as the journalist Donald Woods. Woods wrote the book on which the film was made and he himself had to flee South Africa in order to get the book published. There was a great and very powerful soundtrack to the movie, fitting for such a story of courage and tragedy, by George Fenton and Jonas Gwangwa....this is the title track. - Cry Freedom.
