#BillyoTea, #IrisBishop, #MartinWindhamRead
Following the delight shown at the Australian content that I posted the other day I offer for your delight the traditional folksong a Billy o'Tea. I have chosen for you a recent performance from MartIn Wyndham-Read, raconteur, singer, guitarist and folk music collector together with accordianist Iris Bishop. Both are English but may have Australian citizenship. Martin I think has a career in Australia spanning about 50 years.
He uses for his introduction of the song a simple Australian bush poem about a simple Australian (simple being another word for typical). Please enjoy something that I suspect 99.99% of the population of Australia have never heard.
I've only heard snippets of Wyndham-Reed's work, but what I've heard is exceptional.
He stands with a rare handful who have contributed to maintaining Australian heritage for future generations most of whom are too stupid to realise the value of what they are letting pass them by.
