Is this the beginning of a new era for Australian Politics and Government or just a mere hiccup that caught the MAJOR Parties unawares and they will soon see to it that it can NEVER happen again?
Recently, according to a reliable News report, in the House of Representatives ( what an oxymoron that term is imo, they ONLY ever represent themselves, NOT us, the LNP appointed Speaker of the House stepped down and, shock upon shock, a new Speaker was elected BUT this time NOT one selected by the Governing Parties, NO, this time the Speaker is independent of ALL political Parties, both the MAJOR ones and others as well.
In essence, this CAN and should mean, No more biased ruling made by the Speaker when the Opposition debates/disagrees against the Government, NO more Governing Party holding the reins by having the Speaker in their pocket and other matters as well included.
Heres hoping this is NOT a One Off thing and continues on and and on until FINALLY we get to see Parliaments ACTUALLY being HONEST, Open and WORKING for the Good of EVERYONE and NOT just for the Big End of Town as they do now.

Politicians aren't usually the co-operative team players we might wish for.

An old saying I got from my Dad, " When meeting a Politician, ALWAYS count your finger BEFORE shaking hands and again AFTER shakings hands."

Yes, why?

Well yes, but if you want unrepresentative swill, look at the Senate.

Yes but is NOT the Entire political system designed to propagate and promote this unrepresentative swill that inhabits all forms of government these days?
