Just posted in General & Hellos complete with a poll for you to respond to - please do!

According to the latest OECD report based on seriously outdated (2014) numbers one in four Australians over 66 lives in poverty. In comparison one in five Americans.

This however compared well against that Americanised country South Korea where it is nearly every second person who lives in poverty.

At the other end of the scale in Denmark, Sweden, France, Netherlands it is one in twentyfive or less.

A right wing Catholic ex Prime Minister has just been voted out of Parliament but it is reported be paid a pension of $6000 per week which is more than fourteen times what the Australian Aged pension amounts to.

That ex-PM will be down $100 in ten years' time (if he's honest). I doubt he'll miss it.

Sounds about right. In two years I'll be joining them. The one in four, I mean.

Oz is no different from other western Anglo countries. Look below the BS figures, the political BS, the bureaucratic BS, the media BS, and all the rest, and you'll find huge numbers of people who just get by, struggle, and are on the wrong side of the economic lolly.

It was the ALP's role to help prevent that. They failed. They gave up in the 1980s. Wanted to win elections, they said. Really worked well, didn't it.

Seduced by the greed and personal good life. The only poli that I had a happorth of respect for was Ted Mack who declined to take pension when he had done his mandatory six years and had had enough. IMO it has been largely the same with the union leaders but they had a poor role model with the Wee Bodgy.

As Professor Cipollo identified "if you do not advance all, you do not advance yourself you are merely a thief or stupid".
