the music hurts my ears sorry

You have a physical impediment, don't like electric guitars & drums or in true parochial fashion do not wish to hear about NSW history?

@FrayedBear I don't like country music. And at the risk of sounding a heartless bitch.......it's way too sentimental.

I have many childhood memories of holidays in NSW as most relatives live there. From Ulladulla, Blue Mountains, and up and down coastal and rural NSW. These fires are breaking my heart. I'll cry if I dwell too much on the poor creatures, the beautiful bushland and of course the people and homes that are lost.

@MsDemeanour Personally I couldn't give a brass razoo for the houses - you make your bed lie on it! The animals & forests have little say and in the latter it is a natural cycle.

@MsDemeanour Earthquake & cyclone is not the same as fire.

@FrayedBear 500 million fauna killed in fires often lit by arsonists. It is expected some species will now be extinct. A third of koalas dead and a third of their habitat destroyed in NSW. Thousands of hectares of agricultural land affected in WA.

As for your heartless comment Personally I couldn't give a brass razoo for the houses - you make your bed lie on it! I hope your house is on the waterfront.

I had a house that burned down. The truly beautiful thing that I recall from the event, was the kindness and generosity of my community.

@MsDemeanour I used to live on the waterfront but surrounded by gum trees - as do many in Australia. As is currently being experienced by the need for evacuations the waterfront is not an ideal place to live.
It was a long time before I realised that a fire five miles away could be upon me in the time that it takes to make a cup of tea. Here in Victoria the government is advertising that burning embers can blow 40 kilometres to start new fires and a recent report suggests that birds of prey may well start fires to increase the availibility of animals to devour - [dailymail.co.uk]

I suggest that most deaths from fire occur in common housefires. The most common reason for house fires is faulty powerboard cut out panels and damaged/decayed electric wiring. For nearly 3 years I have been been concerned by the cutouts where I live. At an inspection two years ago the electrician told me that the power board was very old and should be replaced. The landlord currently states that a certificate of worthiness was received however they decline to share a copy with me. So you may well get your puerile ignorent wish that my house will burn down.

Quite simply houses built in woodland and forest should not be allowed unless protected by fire breaks & a streaming roof mounted watering system that extinguishes embers and flames.

@MsDemeanour Were you fully insured?

@FrayedBear I'm not going to tell you because you tell me it was my own stupid fault. 😛

@FrayedBear I don't have any bad feelings toward you FB. So truce? 😀 I have too much stuff going on in my real life to be offended by strangers online.

Actually the house was insured but not contents. It didn't concern me that much.The boys and dog were safe and we had time to retrieved sentimental things. I'd lost my husband and mother a few yrs prior so that kept the house fire in perspective. It was an old tv that caused the fire. It was not on but was still switched on at the wall.

@MsDemeanour I suggest that to say the fire was caused by a faulty tv is not correct. It was caused because the power safety trip did not take place thus allowing electricity to continue flowing allowing heat and sparks to create the conflagration that burnt the house down. The trip mechanisms cost about $8 at Bunnings.

Wow! When did that happen?

1989

@FrayedBear Were there many casualties?

@Geoffrey51 Did you not watch the video? A lot of ambulances were involved. Wikipedia will probably tell you.

@FrayedBear I saw the destruction and emergency services.

@Geoffrey51 I was sitting about 50 klms from Newcastle in Gosford when it happened. The house moved.

@FrayedBear That would have felt weird!

@Geoffrey51 Yes it was shortly after she pissed me off and married the copper supposedly looking for her runaway daughter. She was cuckolding me behind my back.
