Just when I thought things could NOT get any dumber around here, this comes over the local News.
Our wise and knowing, NOT, City Council recently parted out Rate-payers money to buy NEW and Improved Garbage Trucks, total costs not as yet advertised to the Public btw.
It appears that the first of the 4 ordered arrived here late last week ONLY to find that it was,
A) far, far smaller in capacity than the older ones they already had,
B) IT was NOT a Dual Control vehicle,
C) instead of having a hydraulic Lifting system for raising, emptying and lowering the Wheelie Bins with internal controls, it WAS fitted with an Electric Lifting system capable of ONLY lifting bins with a gross weight of 35 kilograms, NOT, the 80 kilograms that the older ones were capable of AND ONLY controllable from outside of the vehicle, and,
D) the vehicle Compliance plates were NOT compatible with N.S.W. Regulations for Registration and Usage on N.S.W. roads.
And, to add to that DEBACLE, the Council hired an out-of-town Contracting Firm to to rip up, level and re-seal 1.5 kilometres of a busy road in town WHILST KNOWING that the Essential Water Services Company had ALREADY informed in WRITING a fortnight earlier that THEY would be replacing an aged Water Main running down the MIDDLE of that very section of road NEXT week.
Bureaucracy at its very best in my opinion, NOT.
