did you ever try to lure them close with a feeder? we don't have them where i live, so i'm wondering whether that's an easy task or not.

I have in the past. It does seem to be pretty easy to lure them here, as long as you get feeders out early ... around March when they first start showing up. If I put feeders out now, I probably wouldn’t attract any. I’ve heard it also helps to have plenty of flowers around the feeders as well.
