I am not exactly sure what the scope of this group is (serious birders, photographers, backyard feeders, pet birders, raising of avian livestock, fans of birds, or all of these), but, before I find out otherwise, thought to post a fave bird video. I am a tremendous fan of corvids:

Yep! And jays, and mag pies... One raucous family!

So cute!

I'm all of the above and more. I've been a birding nut since my grandmother sent us kids a National Geographic children's North American Birds book when I was five years old. I practically memorized it, although we lived in Haiti (I was born there, of American missionaries) despite never seeing those birds locally.

But I constantly observed the Haitian birds while riding my horse, hand-raised a Hispaniola Amazon parrot, plus kept rehabbing wild bird babies I bought off local Haitians who were planning to eat them.
I also raised baby chicks (since I was five yrs old), baby guinea fowl, Muscovy ducklings, etc

In the US, and when I lived briefly in Mexico in 2001, I blogged on bird forums about birds I saw with my binoculars until digital cameras became a thing, then began documenting my sightings, buying increasingly expensive gear and posting photos online.
During the 1980s I had a small exotic bird breeding business-parrots, finches, canaries, fancy pigeons, etc. for about five years, believing I was helping to preserve the species, but became disillusioned.

When one of my Thai university students showed me bird photos he took in Khao Yai National Park, Thailand, I said I'd go there some day, and I did.

I moved here in 2010, changing locations every year or so, to see as many species as possible.
I've been living in southern Thailand, near the Malaysia border, since 2014.

Photo is of a (5.5 inch long) male Brown-throated Sunbird near my place, Songkhla, Thailand
