A woman remembers her cancerverasry every day she's still alive. I do too. October 9, 2011. I walked into the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital for blood test review and knew I just had to be in the wrong place. I was told unless I started chemo right away I would be dead in 3 weeks. I always had theorized that I would never do chemo since my sister-in-law and friend died during it. My ex-husband, a friend at that point was there with me and somehow I was drugged and shipped in an ambulance 1 and 1/2 hours away to Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon. NH. The other choice was Boston. Something told me to go with NH Hospital. Very thankful I did. Took them several days to get me to do the chemo. Now I'm glad I did. I survived after several rounds of chemo, on and off for 4 months, radiation and a bone marrow transplant. Hard to believe what I did to survive, but I did and I'm here 5 years later living again.
Gives me hope. I'm soon to have surgery and radiation. I'm trying to avoid chemotherapy
Chemotherapy saved my life. Don't ever give up. You are stronger than you think!
