google the "Evangeline Cafe" in Austin tx.most of their tables are done in different degrees and styles like this.Im not sure if you can see any of the tables clearly. But if you send him (Curtis Clarke) a message, tell him that Carl Jansen sent you,he would probably be willing to get you some pics.
@Sheannutt you are very welcome.if you don't want to use my name just tell him "the old man" sent you. That should elicit a chuckle. We have been friends for a long time.Him a good ol cajun boy
@Sheannutt I just checked for you. There are just a few glimpses of the table tops.check it out and message Curtis. He`ll help ya out.Let me know please
Not with money...but I've been wanting to do some kind of mosaic...ah hell...project one million and one...get in line!
Epoxy would be a choice, we use it alot for filling cracks in wood that has split or where something is going to be glued to wood that is not wood. Epoxy to use is West System and it is expensive about $120.00 a gallon, you can get it in smaller containers but make sure you do only one pour and follow the directions. It smells and it will take a while, over night, to cure. Over years it will turn amber in color.
@Sheannutt There are other ways to do it but I would not use anything that is not for commercial use and if they fail all you get is a mess. Epoxy on penny's would be really hard to get off, epoxy strippers do not work as they say they will, especially if it has cured. If it has not cured or is not going to cure Lacquer thinner will disolve it but it is such a large mess and fire hazzard that I cannot recommend it for liability reasons. It burns better than gas.
See a few. The problem is the possible discoloration of the clear stuff. I haven't seen one yet that didn't turn yellow after a few years. The last one I knew the make date of, changed with-in two years. Love them anyway!
You can get resin that doesn't yellow.
@CaroleKay That is good! Must be a new thing. The last piece I saw is only two years old and the advertising said the same thing. I do think it helps if it is never left in the sun. This piece never was, but still...
I did see this done on a whole floor, and it was so neat! I am just leery, I guess.
I think it would be very heavy...I have seen similar tables done with bottle caps...I have been saving them for a while to make a table
