I discovered I loved painting about a year and a half ago. This is one of my paintings. I have a problem though, I'm running out of room to put them! What do you all do with art you don't have room for? They're not gift quality. They're mostly for practice. But it feels sad to just put/throw them away.

I think they are gift quality !!!

Finish them professional and show them. You might even sell some.

Little to nervous for that! Haha

@PiperMckenna go to some art exhibition. Sometimes you need to see what other artists are doing to gain coursge

@confidentrealm I might do that. I enjoy seeing people's art. I might get inspired.

@PiperMckenna it's a good place to start.

Sell them ? Have an exhibit ? Donate them to a local resale store ? Paint over the canvas and start over ?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will paint over some. I'll take pics first to mark my progress.

Aww, thank you! I love lots of colors. haha

@PiperMckenna yes. wish I could draw or paint, other than abstract stuff

I think it's very pretty. I love the colors in it. I'm afraid I have no advice on what to do with them. I have a bad habit of not finishing what I start.

Very nice. That would be gift quality for sure.

I agree...I have seen less talented pieces hanging at the doctor's office...I think it is lovely as well and would make a nice gift!

Aww, thank you both so much!

@PiperMckenna I hope you post more works.

@PiperMckenna I went back and studied the painting a little closer and I think it's sell worthy. I lived in Taos NM for several years. Between Taos and Santa Fe there were a lot of art galleries. I have seen a lot of paintings in galleries which were not near as good as this. IMHO

@Sticks48 That really boosts my confidence! I don't really want to sell paintings. I have an aunt who is a professional artist and sells her paintings. It takes a lot of work. I'm way too busy to work hard to sell mediocre paintings. But it makes me so happy to hear all these nice things. ^_^ I love painting, so I'm definitely going to continue. Just probably paint over some of the canvases.

@PiperMckenna I do feel you have talent. I wasn't suggesting you should sell them, but if you have other pieces that are that good, l was just saying l believe they would be of a quality that could sell. I hope to see more of your work.

I take pictures and then paint over them...or, if someone is interested, I give them away...I do the same for all of my projects...I can't keep them all nor do I want them

@Allamanda Yes, since I have been painting for nearly 50 years, I forgot that I saved some from when I first started as learning tools...always new techniques to learn...I now keep a YouTube or Pinterest file...

Hmmm, I never thought of that. Canvases are expensive. That would save money too.

@Allamanda That's a good point. I'll keep some, but I think I may try to paint over some as well. I guess I should start taking pictures of all of them too.

@PiperMckenna I used the hard covers of Readers Digest as small canvases to practice on...they took both acrylics and oils well and I ended up with hundreds of small art work...I used them for Random Acts of Kindness, leaving them in odd places for people to take...I buy canvas in bulk but I have room to store them...I used to stretch my own, but keeping the rolls clean and away from my cats was tough

@PiperMckenna Don't you dare paint over that one!!! I like it! ha

@thinktwice I once painted on the cover of a really ugly version of Tale of Two Cities and gave it to my sister. She loved it! But I had never thought of just painting on random books....that's actually a good idea bc I have a whole box of reader digest in the shed!
