Kayak fans should consider participating in The Tour de Coal, in St. Albans West Virginia. The event is a part of the Coal River Group’s efforts to clean up the area’s environment. The paddlers spent hours in the river, scooping up litter while floating from the park’s upper falls to its lower falls, and then finishing at the Gateway Shopping Center in St. Albans.
When the event first took place in 2004, there were only around 44 paddlers on the water. The number of kayaks has markedly increased since. This year (2018) there were over 1400 boats! It is an awesome and beautiful trip, I highly recommend it!!!
