Even if it was moral to give someone a monopoly on arbitration, there would be no one you could trust the position to. Humans are imperfect, and power corrupts. I'd say those are truths of human nature. So yeah, let's just keep it to simple rules. Don't hurt people, and don't take their stuff. If an action doesn't fall under either of those two categories, presume you are free to take that action. Same rules for everyone; equal justice.

I do not agree that it's about ends, not means. Quite the opposite actually.
Also, obviously not big on the God idea.
