It really sucks when your day job gets in the way of your writing. sigh
Or if you are retired, have plenty of time to write, but just can't get motivated from time to time. It has been this way all Summer and I have no excuses.
I understand this problem all too well which is why I joined a writing group, just so I had something to keep me motivated.
I always felt that time stolen from work was some of my best writing. I wrote the first half of a great screenplay while working a front counter while interacting with customers. If no one was there, I was free to do what I wanted. I wrote so freely that it scared me because I knew it would burn out before I finished the script. Here it is over ten years later and I'm still trying to get it done. Although I did manage to write almost the last act by writing it backwards.
Keep at it. I'm currently writing a novel that is at about the halfway mark now. All I know is how it ends, so I'm going on this journey with my character with every twist and turn as he makes it. So, not exactly backward, but having already written the ending, it is in a way.
If you learn to live with what is, you won't worry about what could be and you might get some writing done. Works for me.
