Well I've healed up from my surgery and going back to work today. Late today for a physical exam required by DOT and company, then get caught up on safety program videos and turn in my doctors release form at the Wooster yard. I've hit the boards fairly hard while off which many post didn't get many views. Ketchup while I'm going to slow back down now, dam mit.
While all my tumors came back negative for cancer, I have one the doctor couldn't reach with the method he used to get the others. I have one that's on the wall of my colon where it meets the small intestine. So I have to do another colonoscopy where he attempts to draw it out from the wall, injecting fluid between the layers of skin to get to it attempting to create as little damage as possible. He said 3 months from the last surgery, so I'm looking at about February.
This shit isn't anything to play with. Get your checkups done! I let mine go for too long and paid a hard lesson for it. I had some really tough nights with the pain. And the bleeding the first 3 days after. I had a few that were outside that were cut off and cauterized. One night a larger wound began burning and it felt like I was being branded for several minutes. I've never felt such pain in my life, especially for such a long period. I've broken and fractured knuckles and fractured the end of a bone going into my right knee, had a large steel crate fall on my back that jacked me up fairly bad in a factory, and been stabbed a few times, none of which felt as bad. The only thing good about this was the oxycodone when it was working. Don't be a William in this aspect!
I'm glad you're ok. Hopefully everything is ok when you go back in February or so. I had a endoscopy and colonoscopy a few years ago for some stomach discomfort. I was in my late 30s so it was nice and early. Nothing major. Just some minor gastritis and a benign polyp. It's definitely good to get some early check ups with that though. We all hate going for these things, but it's better to check and take care of what needs to get done. Happy holidays and happy health! Here's to hoping things go for the better in the future.
Good to hear that you're nearly over it all. My annual check just came back clear. Here we have a voluntary national programme for 50 -73 year olds that costs nothing other than collecting & posting samples off.
I still remember my first colonoscopy. Back then it was not so simple. It was called a sigmoidoscopy [healthline.com]. There is a tube with a light, camera, water hose and vacuum. Water is shot into the colon to clean it and then sucked up and of course the light and camera. I had to lay on my side and actually watch the 'fun' on a screen. Talk about gas and discomfort. Now I get what's known as an endoscopy every three years. One time I had both at the same time - a tube at each end. Lots of fun (not). Normally these exams come with a tranquilizer so one is out during the procedure so it's no big deal. Afterward it's lots of fun for whoever is driving you home (coming down from the tranquilizer you are often loopy and say lots of weird things).
Boy, sounds like a rough time. Good to hear the cancer was negative.
I had my first colonoscopy in 2014. Aside from a small patch of diverticula and a hemorrhoid I was cleared for another one in 10 years. Good ya got it all taken care of.
The doc laughed about my baby hemorrhoid, I told him "well, it's sitting on a fucking nerve and hurts!".
My first one I was told it was a pink as a baby's (probably due to the vegetarian diet). The last one also showed diverticulitis. I was told, at my age this was perfectly normal. Also, I read the small intestine is only one cell thick (or thin).
@JackPedigo I saw my pictures, yep, nice and pink.
@silverotter11 So I guess we're just a couple of 'pinko' socialists.
@JackPedigo All day long! HAHAHA
I have those too
