No belief in a god but belief in the supernatural?
LeslieV2 comments on Sep 2, 2018:
I can only speak for myself, I believe in a soul. I was pregnant and the baby died. I had a “dream” that I spoke to the baby and he told me that the baby was not going to live, and he (the soul) had to go. That dream seemed very real. It may have been my subconscious, dealing with the impending ...

I know he doesn't hear. But it gives me comfort and helps me problem solve. It hurts no one. If it makes me a tad eccentric....so be it.

@Cassiopeia thanks for that comprehensive reply. And yes there is still much work to be done throughout the world. This is why it appalls me when the young say there is no need for feminism. I'll believe I have equality when the female voice holds as much power throughout the world as mens; when I feel my sex is represented equally in parliament. My country taxes 'essential items like sun screen and condoms but not women's sanitary items. Those are still considered luxury items. I say we should give them away and bleed on all the public trains buses, cinemas, work places. Those squeamish men would soon delete the tax.

What do older women think about dating younger men?
MsDemeanour comments on Sep 1, 2018:
Neither of those. It's the bloody maintenance required that puts me off dating a younger man. Ya gotta put in too much effort, make up, shaving, hairdresser. ;)
MsDemeanour replies on Sep 2, 2018:
@jondspen I do like to dress up on occassion. But I live in a hot climate. Few women wear makeup daily.....it drips off the face. I refuse to shave my wotsit cos it itches when it grows back ( please don't tell me remedies. I don't want to look llike a pre-pubescent anyway). I have a fullfilling and fun life and don't feel any burning need for a partner in any case. so I guess the point is moot.

@PontifexMarximus Religion is the antithesis of free thought and yes I mentioned places where it is outlawed. How difficult it would be to have free thought when brainwashed from a child. And I'm not talking about being rude, bigoted and tactless. I'm talking about the freedom of expression when it comes to denouncing politicians, the freedom to demonstrate publically for our goverenments refugee laws, the freedom to denounce religion. . How difficult to exercise freedom of thought when to act means certain death. @Omots you surely don't blame those millions of Germans who did NOT act out of fear. Yes ok I agree we have a choice whether or not to express our thoughts but if the consequence is death it's a piss poor luxury. And btw those applying for parole have their thoughts explored by psychologists to determine if release is a public safety risk. Orwell illustrated how thought could be limited using Newspeak in 1984. But of course that was merely fiction ;)

Only homes belonging to members of the Hare Krishna community were destroyed.

Think about this now. How long do you think you could go without judging someone?
JeffMesser comments on Jul 31, 2018:
talk of not judging someone is such a bunch of crap. we have no choice but to judge people. our minds do it automatically in the subconscious and our bodies respond ... even before our conscious mind has time to make any evaluation. you have to dig deep deeeeeeep into the recesses of the mind and ...
MsDemeanour replies on Jul 31, 2018:
@Guttermoss I like your comment 'it's what we do next that matters". Snap judgements were crucial for our evolutionary survival. If it was a matter of life or death to decide if an approaching person was friend or foe we had to make a snap judgement based on what they looked like. These are highly developed neural shortcuts or heumonics. They save energy and assist for fast action. But as my friend here says, it's what we do next that matters. If we have a brain in our head we can reassess our response and see if it needs amending. Most people today aren't trying to kill us so we don't need to be on high alert, but those judgements remain. They say it takes 5 seconds.
