One would think that all women would hate Trump on so many levels, yet most of the ones I talk to ignore his unacceptable behavior.
MsDemeanour replies on Nov 3, 2018:
It's not tacit approval. Thing is, we women of a certain age have been indoctrinated with the 'boys will be boys' and 'girls are hysterical' philosophy. Of course this is changing but I easily recall a time when sexual harassment in the workplace was not a crime and you were expected to put up with it. I think some women overlook Trump's crimes because of this culture. I haven't got past him imitating a disabled man.

Emotional Availability: Where does the "vulnerability" end and the stupidity begin?
Shefree comments on Oct 14, 2018:
One should not ever be emotionally vulnerable. That can lead to problems of all kinds. A person should strive to the emotionally stable. MsDemeanour replies on Oct 15, 2018:
@KenChang This is a brilliant talk by Brene Brown. I had actually seen it before some time back. When you say 'emotionally available' do you mean romantically? Because I am definitely emotionally vulnerable and available to people, but I doubt I put off vibes that I'm looking for a relationship. Brown speaks of the joy you experience when you are vulnerable. I know this is to be true. Yrs ago I was reserved proud, shy. Now at 55, I feel fulfilled and happy and I am totally an open book because I no longer CARE what people think of me. And you know what? As I share my vulnerabilities, others open up and share with me. When you stop talking about the weather and really share with someone, it is so special. I am open about my childhood trauma, the loss of my dear husband, my house burning down and the social anxiety and depression I experienced. You see I can AFFORD to be vulnerable because I am now confident in my place in the world. This is what Brown said. When we are secure that we are loved, we believe that we are loveable and can share that love with others. I'm not sure what the difference is between being emotionally vulnerable and being emotionally available, but it sounds like it is an equal deal. As I make myself emotionally vulnerable I am available to take on your hurts and past sorrows. I love people and connecting with others. Being open about your vulnerabilities makes one feel incredibly strong. It is liberating and I smile as I think on it.

my husband died 18 yrs ago and the thought of going through that sort of pain made me decide never to be emotionally vulnerable again. But of course I am. I have children, a father , friends, my dog. I think everyone has an opinion on what is considered hate and stupidity and they don't always mesh. I think each person needs to decide for themselves what their limits are of accepting differences in opinions. You can either read, scroll past, post your own opposing opinion, block and even report....
MsDemeanour replies on Oct 11, 2018:
@thinktwice We can hate the behaviour without hating the person ie making personal attacks on them. We can also hate the beliefs without hating the people. I believe religion to be divisive and unhelpful in a country of diversity. Indoctrination of children should be banned but that would be impossible to enact. I'm rigid in my lack of superstition. And I'm sceptical. But show me the evidence and I'll change my mind :D

Worse, YOu don't even try to empathise. You just tell others to 'suck it up'

Are you talking about being sodomised by another man? Poor grammar can tell you things like that and it might tell you something about a person's education but it can't tell you about a person's IQ or character.

none of us 'is' or none of us 'are' ? I think you know the answer to that so I won't say. Words are tools to convey meaning. As long as meaning isn't lost, grammar or spelling isn't important while in an informal setting like this forum. I do find it irksome however, when I find simple errors in news items or professional settings. I feel that they are too lazy to do simple proof read.
