@carlyhorton Wow, contempt! My dear I have no contempt for you (or anyone), I do not know you and know nothing about you. I am just one who is curious about people and how they think and reason. I wish you well and success in finding what you are searching for here and in your life. Love and Peace.
Why are you on this site?
Slappy_Longarms comments on May 17, 2018:
It's another group to occupy my time when I go online. If I meet other folks, all the better. I'm not agnostic.

I completely relate with this.
How many of you actually care about the royal wedding? I won’t tease you.

Thoughts on Confucianism??
Fit50something comments on May 16, 2018:
In 500 BCE, Confucius was saying that if you don't want it done to you, don't do it to others. That IS the Golden Rule, and he was spreading the word 500 years before what's-his-name. Confucianism is a social and ethical philosophy, not a religion.
jlynn37 replies on May 16, 2018:
Actually it is the Silver Rule. The golden rule is positive, i.e. DO unto others where the silver rule is negative, i.e. DO NOT DO unto others. Christianity is the only one to use the positive and all others use the negative. Please correct me if I am wrong.

NotConvinced comments on May 16, 2018:
It does not deserve respect, but the right to believe what you want, as long as it physically harms no one is important. The problem is, when I tell a Christian that I will die for their freedom to believe, only 2 out of ten will reciprocate.

If Conservative Evangelicalism Gets Its Way Thoughts?
atheist comments on May 16, 2018:
Well, my understanding is that more people are becoming non-religious which means that in order for evangelicals to get their way they would have to be in control of the power positions in society!
jlynn37 replies on May 16, 2018:
That is exactly what their intention is and what they are working on to achieve. If the citizens continue to not vote, they will achieve that end because conservative evangelicals VOTE in mass.

My friend and I have discussed this. I don't think you have to be Christian to practice good citizenship in the community. People assume that because we're atheists or agnostics that we don't have a heart, or don't know how to love others. It sounds like you were raised by lovely people. I love ...

Days away from 55 here. Don't mind getting old. One of the worst things about it is discovering that there is always a new way to hurt! Have a friend that just turned 60. She was struggling with it. So I said, "what, you wanted to die at 59?". Just a number. Take care of yourself and you will...

Jlangston70 comments on May 15, 2018:
While I don't feel "old", I'm very aware of my mortality now. I'll be 48 very soon, and the realization that, if I'm lucky, I only have 20 to 30 revolutions around the sun left is weighing on me.
