My dogs checking out a very angry Eastern gartersnake. No dogs or snakes were injured! Before the dogs could get too nosy I moved the snake to the other side of our fence and set it free.

Fantastic picture!! I am glad to hear that the snake(s) was/were rescued. I love garter snakes!

That's a great part of living in the southern US... lots of lizards and snakes! (:
I grew up in a suburb of Indianapolis. It might have been the suburb part more than the lattitude that hindered the critter populations. I met my first snake, a yellow bellied ring neck in a more wooded part of IN.
In GA, the lizards sold as pets in IN (anoles, skinks, fence lizards) are wild and numerous! I positively love it!
