Am trying to read my newspaper ... Zoe keeps lying down on the paper. I pick her up, put her on floor, she jumps on to the table and lies down on paper again. I tried to reason with her. Does no good.

She is reasoning with you. Zoe wants more love and her vocabulary is limited to food and associated sounds. Newspapers are bad news and she is all about Atheism and good news like clean kitty litter and toys like LAZER LIGHT so Zoe can chase that little red dot everywhere

I use the cardboard , "trays," their cans of cat food comes on , and set them on the table next to where I'm working . That's usually an acceptable compromise .
