Officially sterile!

So I had my surgery last week, and it went swimmingly. Minor complications revolving around the removal of my IUD (see, that could have been avoided if they'd sterilized me a decade ago!) but all went well otherwise, and I'm quite pleased. A couple small scars is nothing compared to the relief of knowing that I can't get pregnant. I'm not 100% sure I'd be emotionally able to deal healthily with an abortion, so I'm incredibly glad to know that I'll never have to make a choice between two undesirable paths.

Anyway, if any women are pondering a tubal ligation (or what I had, tube removal, salpingectomy...) The surgery itself is easy to rebound from, the pain was minimal and I took nothing stronger than Aleve. If I worked a desk job, I believe I'd have been able to return to work after just a few days. I screwed up some of my own aftercare, but even that doesn't seem to be a big problem. It's well worth it - my peace of mind about the future is settled in a lovely way that I have never experienced!
