In '95 (sounds so long ago) I had a stroke. It affected my right side motor functions. I packed on over 200 lbs by 2002, for a total of 400 lbs. I started cutting back on portion sizes and cut way down in carbs. I would eat 6 small meals a day. I have lost the the 200 lbs and kept it off. I have weighed 205 for over 10 years and eat what I like, just smaller portions.
No creo en Dios! I'm learning Spanish.
Good job on loosing the weight, GREAT job of maintaining. That is the hardest part, keeping it off long term.
I am committed to keeping it off this time as it is a health issue that pushed me to lose so gaining it back will return things to as they were. I did take 6 months off from dieting but did maintain, even through the holidays. It is not "easy" and will require things I was not committed to doing in the past, like checking weight every day and if more than a couple pounds creep back, spend a few days cutting back again. Since I did hold my own for 6 months, I know I can do it, just have to remain committed to it.
Congratulations! That's AMAZING! I lost my 75# the opposite way... not by managing how much, but by paying close attention to what I ate. That management takes place at the store instead of the plate. Sticking to just healthy veggies and salads and avoiding red meat and processed foods I can eat a dump-truck (but I usually don't) and still lose or not gain weight. I also avoid all the carcinogens and other toxic "foods" that way.
Well done for getting the weight off and keeping it off. Are you finding it hard, that you have joined this group?
No, not even,
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
