Just give up the carbohydrates especially corporate packaged snack crap. If one has to snack it is grapes & whole, not "baby" carrots & green beans with balsamic vinegar, nuts & peanuts that are really a bean so protein packed. Don't have junk in the house. & eliminate the sugar that is in every thing. Avoid bread except for 20 grain whole such as Dave's killer bread & only one slice a day if that much. Water or tea. No diet garbage as they keep one addicted to sweet flavors.

There are many ways to lose weight. Low carb has become a montra, but the potato diet, and plant-based whole-food diet are high in carbs and are very effective. It is important that you succeed with your diet, which is a personal preference.

The physics of weight loss is simple, 1 pound of weight gain or loss is about 3500 calories, eaten or not. To maintain a steady weight, calories burned = calories consumed.

The biology of hunger is complex and varies from person to person. To avoid hunger, your body needs the right nutrients. Getting the right nutrients is IMO crucial to weight loss and maintenance; otherwise, your diet requires you to fight hunger, which usually means failure. Finding what you need to eat to get your required nutrients in foods you either like or at least tolerate is sometimes very difficult, because it requires changing something about ourselves.

Make one change (e.g., give up carbs, give up sugar, add a salad to your daily food intake, meditate every day, exercise, anything!) Change something about yourself and prove to yourself that you can change. Then focus on changing your weight and health.

Good basics; May I add avoid the potatoes and rice. Eat light, small portions at dinner. Go to bed hungry. Let hunger be your friend...it's helping you extend your life, after all.

Yep. Its referred to as fasting. Rice & potatoes at least have other nutrients. Rice as a base for vegetables, spices, nuts is a world staple tho few are obese,& potatoes are an Andean, staple with no obese issue so.....
The one carb I permit myself is a Stella Artois. But then I am far from obese.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
