Just joined the group. At one time I weighted 356 lbs. In 2004 I opted for lap ban surgery and have been able to keep off over 140 lbs. I know it saved my life. If I can help any of my new friends I will be glad to.

I weighed 378, had surgery also, have lost 150, however I am still 50 pounds from my goal weight. Having issues with family now that eating habits and activity levels are in check. My increased health benefits are creating distance between myself and loved ones kinda like when I distanced myself from church going and praying in public. I'm up for a morning walk while the whole house sleeps in, and wakes 15 min. Before work and school. I have the energy and gumption now to keep a tidy house, but find myself cleaning after husband and three sons while they lounge around. Also my libido has increased and my spouse is not as receptive to my initiation attempts as I would like him to be. In that regard, I almost suspect he preferred the overweight, less healthy version of me. I am cooking healthier meals and trying to utilize portion control with them to help them get healthier too. But I am combatting processed snacks like fudge rounds, twinkies, oatmeal pies and cookies which invariably find its' way into the house. I am being persistent but not scoring points with anyone. I feel ostricized for it.

Congratulations that's amazing.

Congrats on what you are doing.
One of the things a doctor told me when I set a weight goal was that I had been carrying around over 250 pounds for many years and my body was not going to give up the extra weight with out a fight.
I finally beat the 200 mark and have been able to hold it between 205 and 210 for the last six years.
I can help with some diet advice. But the family issue sound like you might need a marriage counselor.
Don't give up.

I'm interested to know, before you had the surgery, did you get hungry and then eat too much, or did you eat without being hungry?

oh, sorry I thought your comment was directed to the dude I responded to initially...I had a stress filled lifestyle and work/career related stress that was partially the reason I gained to the point of almost 400 pounds. I would work all day and skip meals, then come home and stress eat a huge meal and promptly go to sleep. Additionally I have sleep apnea which caused me to stop breathing while asleep multiple times throughout the night. I actually quit breathing several times during the surgery. I am currently on a dream mapper breathing machine that keeps me from ceasing to breath while sleeping.

Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.

Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.
