Stumbled across this charming lyric from vese four of the belov'd Mormon hymn
"Come, O thou King of kings" by Elder Parley Parker Pratt

  1. Hail! Prince of life and peace!
    Thrice welcome to thy throne!
    While all the chosen race
    Their Lord and Savior own,
The heathen nations bow the knee,
And ev’ry tongue sounds praise to thee.

Ya know, I am reminded of some of my fantasy thoughts when I feel ... defeated? Out of control? Not able to help a situation? (Not certain any of these is quite right). As a child, the fantasy was being something like superman or some other super hero who could save the day no matter what the situation.

This is how I see this lyric. The fantasy of "their Lord and savior" - their version of superman - will force "the heathen nations bow the knee," and compel "ev’ry tongue sounds praise to thee." It's a childish fantasy of power for the powerless; something to counter doubt and uncertainty that they don't have control over. Too bad It's written by and for adults.

The idea of Mormons seeing themselves as a Chosen Race, was the part I found most disturbing.
The idea of a Prince of peace forcing the whole world of profane inferior peoples being forced to their knees and swear allegiance to a tyrant.

@LenHazell53 - I recall Mormons who interpreted the word "Jews" in biblical prophesy to mean Mormons because Mormons were now God's chosen people. I would agree that forcing nonbelievers to their knees is disturbing. I guess the Mormon concept of free will was granted for only a limited time and will be revoked at Jesus 2nd coming.
