Can a person perceive a sense of his / her own worth unless it has been reflected back to him / her in the mirror of another loving, caring human being?
Yes...I believe we can. It is really all a matter of confidence and self belief. It is gratifying to have it reflected back, but not essential to knowing within yourself that you count for something.
I agree.. I saw a post that implied that others are necessary for a person to "see" their worth...
Introspection is worthwhile for more than interpersonal relationships. Any difficult challenge may evoke introspection, for example, wondering whether you are capable of success vs the challenge. Although, other thoughts, such as is there an easier way to handle a challenge. Your self worth grows by meeting and managing challenges of all types.
