It was interesting for me because I am a shy introvert, but my husband is a extrovert. So it kind of gives me a better understanding about him. He doesn't get me and that's very irritating sometimes... ?

Interesting article. It seems to me there are quite a lot of us non-shy introverts in this group so maybe that is the norm. With regard to parties, if I have to go, I make sure I arrive rather late when everyone has had a few drinks, make sure that the most gossipy people i know see that I am there, have a few words with my host, then sneak out again and go home. I simply can't do small talk and get criticised for having real conversations and 'monopolising' people.I was brought up to behave well so I am always polite and friendly, but I really don't like a lot of social interaction except with my few close friends.

That's a great article. I agree with everything that was said. I'm also fairly social. I don't dislike people, which is the common belief about introverts. But I find them exhausting in groups. I cannot process a lot of simultaneous stimuli. I can't have a conversation in a noisy environment. I can't stand loud music in restaurants. And I absolutely have to sit at the end of the row and the outside seat in a booth. Always planning my escape The most torturous thing for me to have to attend is a party in someone's house, because I feel obligated to stay and talk to people for a few hours. Oh the horror!

I've had to Chair some big campus committees for the past 4 years and I'm definitely going to shrink into nothingness or into a garden, whichever comes first ha ha!

Thanks for the link. I am an introvert. I have a isolating hearing impairment and I believe I might suffer from some Social anxiety. It is more than just being introverted. Welcome to the site.
