As someone who 'did straight' for decades before finally finding the courage and the opportunity to come out, yes, I felt expected to play by most of these rules in that past life. I found this so relatable that I posted it to Facebook. One of my straight friends decided to have a pop, because "LGBT+ people don't have a monopoly on being fabulous."

Furthermore, this being 'straight' vs 'queer' (not vs 'gay' ) I think it embraces anyone who deviates from acceptable social norms to the point of being judged as weird, whether they consider themselves 'queer' or not. So not just LGBT+ people but people who dress differently as part of their culture (goths, punks etc.) people who have piercings or tattos too numerous or prominently placed for mainstream society's tastes, and non-LGBT+ people who are openly into kink or fetish. There's only one bit of it that's actually about sex (I suppose having kids is tenuously related) and let's face it, any heterosexual who doesn't experiment beyond the missionary position does deserve to be pitied.

Great ideas! And even though this queer/straight-cis lessons dichotomy is not absolute, I agree these ideas are a lot easier to find in queer communities.
