I have just left a 28 year marriage and trying to find a dating scene. Is romance dead? Is it screw first then maybe chat later? I'm a hopeless romantic and I'm finding it very disheartening on what I'm finding.

It's pretty dire out there. Video may have killed the radio star, but apps have killed dating. Nobody cares if you've written an interesting profile. It's now all swipe left or right, depending on whether looking at a picture for 2 seconds gives them a fuzzy feeling in their underpants. Availability is high. Cheap thrills are available just by tapping away at a screen, swapping pictures, and leading people on that they're interested in meeting. In reality they're too lazy to get off that sofa, get a shower, put on some decent clothes and go out. Especially when the lure of more cheap thrills is just a couple of screen taps away.

Sorry to break it to you, but yeah, it might be screw first. I have the same problem. Honestly you best bet is a social group. Bowling league, darts league, adult softball, choir group, etc. Try Meetup.com

Good morning. If you've been in a 28 year marriage, then you are definitely relationship material. There are a lot of men out there that'd love to know you. Like you said, where to find such a guy is the question. I myself, got burnt out with organized religion, because I over extended my limit in church "business". But if you were to visit your local Unitarian congregation, you'll probably find a very supportive LGBTQ community. Atheists, agnostics, Buddhists and every other kind of refugee from traditional faith systems attend. UU's are "welcoming" congregations. We had a large community of gay men, many that were single. They came from a wide variety of backgrounds. It was a place to just "be", if you wanted. After every service, there's a time to socialize. It's nice to enter a place where you're not judged. No one will size you up for your theist/non theist status. I hope you'll give it a try, if you haven't already. It's a safe space. Just be yourself and I'm sure you'll find community, as well as men who'll appreciate you. There's also a UU group here at Agnostics.com. Best wishes to you from chilly Naples.

Keep on looking, it's not the destination, it's the journey.

There are some guys like you out there. I actually envy you; you had the courage to leave your marriage. I hope you find a great guy.

Thank you. You are very kind.

Just get out there, make your intentions clear, and be patient.

Good luck.

Thanks, still trying to find where " out there is".

@FLBorn Then the patience will help.
