Some people love to be told what to do, even when what they are told to do, is refuse to be told what to do even when it does not make any sense not to do it.

It's not about logic. It's not even totally about selfishness. It's to feed a narrative that is based on a faulty premise to begin with. All so unnecessary & petty.
