Back when I was in high school (in the early 80s) I ran track....and next to our school was a hay field. The javelin throwers used the hay bales as target practice and they jokingly called it "throwing needles into the hayfield". Now I wish I had a photo! LOL
((the hayfield became the home for the new elementary school about 15 years ago....))
