It does depend on what the disagreement is all about. Go in for genocide and no respect no liking. Racism, homophobia, misogyny, bigotry, etc also make respect VERY hard for me. OTOH you can root for Alabama while I am a Husker fan, like and respect all possible. (But not for the Packers, of course)

I said I don't "have to agree with you" not if you are a despicable human being. Being a racist et al makes you despicable, being a husker fan just makes you a little harder to like than if they were still in the big 12.
