Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.So - set the record "straight" all you want however, I don't think the maker of this shirt is religiously motivated - they sell a bunch of shirts and they all have pop-culture references on them - most don't mention God at all. Get up in arms if you like, and I'll support you with the Anti-God thing, but I don't think this is what this shirt is about. They're just trying to make a buck. It's quoting lyrics and they are, in deed, correctly attributed to Tom Petty.

I was freshly irritated over a cross on public property. This was just one more drop in the bucket. So it got some attention....
Same with when people thought and used this as a patriotic song

I don't think the words in the song are to be taken literally. I think he was gently poking fun at the girl's beliefs. Just my opinion.
