A good way to prevent car theft is to park by a vehicle that is a lot nicer than yours!
When I lived in Phoenix things like a 1985 Toyota Carola were one of the most stolen cars. Why? Easy to steal, and doesn't draw a lot of attention. Friend of mine had his stolen, and it was a piece of shit!
