The awful state Germany was left in after the war aided the rise of the fascist party. If there had been a Marshal plan after the war the second world war may not have happened.

Well, I think you can answer you're own question. Just think of the nazis and what they did in the 30's and '40s. And the Japanese and all the atrocities they committed before the war.

When I think of that, I think of the Civil War and how it was sold to poor illiterates who didn’t own slaves as states rights. Those that wouldn’t fight got punished. Just like the North who sent all the new immigrants to fight so had an unlimited supply because could only pay your way out. Propaganda drove the wars on both sides just like WWII.
