if guns do not bring security, why are politicians in favor of civil disarmament escorted by armed security guards?
Would not that be a bit of a hypocrite on their part ?

Because they re guards and this is their job. There is no security when every other person responsible has guns.At one time even the British police were unarmed but so any civilians became armed the police had to get guns to protect themselves. It is the presence of so many guns that has actually made life insecure.
