No civilian needs a AR-15. The 2nd amendment was written so state militias could have and bear arms. It was not intended to allow everybody could have as many guns as they want to. The state militia was supposed to protect civilians so they didn't have to have guns. That is the way it was written, and that's the way the founding fathers meant it to be. In the late 1700's when it was written, guns were expensive so was shot and powder. Average people couldn't afford to buy guns if they wanted to, that's what the militia was for, allowing the states to subsidize weapons for the militia.

Even the Supreme Court ruling stated the amendment was open to regulation (which we never hear). Even history has supported regulation. Too many people are simply too afraid to go against the gun companies and all their money. They said they learned a lesson from the fall of tobacco and will learn from this. They have held the dialogue simply through money, lies and bullying. Look up NRA and see all the crap they put out). That is finally starting to change. Their extremist view might be their downfall. They started out as moderates but under LaPierre it has grown to an almost terrorist organization.

There is really nothing to interpret here. If the 2nd amendment meant everybody have a gun then you don't need a militia. Most people back then couldn't afford a gun and powder and shot that's what the militia was for, made up of people who could afford a gun, powder and shot. The way it is written says it's for militia, ask any English teacher.
Just make sure the teacher isn't one of those carrying a gun! @MikeFlora
How about this compromise? Weapons are OK to be owned but have to be lockered safely at your officially sanctioned gun club, including the ammo. The gun clubs will have courses and ranges, plus private rooms for sexual manifestations with your gun, at your leisure. Weapons for hunting can be checked off premises for specific times and specific locations.
