automatic fired rifles like the ar15 and ak47. Our qualifications to own regular guns should involve criminal background checks. The laws that exist should be enforced.

@Captain_Feelgood How many shots is the gun? How proficient with the gun are you? If you are a good shot, I would think you could bring down your target with one or 2 shots. I think you are toying with me and splitting hairs. Japan not only requires the record checks, but a course that teaches you how to use your gun. I had a man tell me once ( he was a hunter). This man I know was not going to eat this brown bear he wounded. He tracked it a while, couldn't find it. The bear was in pain and this bubba thought he was going to date me. After having coffee with him and some friends. I said no way, no how would I date that. So Cpt Feelgood, just what kind of killer are you? How good are you? How many shots does it take for you to hit your target? Do you hunt and kill animals for sport or to eat? You know in a real war, odds are you are not going to get off many rounds before someone who can shoots takes you out.

People need to understand, the gun itself isn't the problem, it's the mental state of the person with the gun. The NRA already put in place the whole 'background check' system, but they don't require everyone to report people that are obvious threats and shouldn't be allowed to get their hands on a gun.. They can't enforce all the laws we have now. What law do you think should be put in place that would actually do any good?
