Cool. Preserved DNA?

t1nick Level 8 Mar 11, 2020

Was actually reading about the latest on this recently. Probably not, DNA has a half life, and like six million years or so is the absolute limit. There has been some research hinting at longer times, but none of it has proved repeatable. Generally a very bad sign when it comes to science.

@Druvius

They have been able to extract DNA (albiet incomplete) from older and less viable samples.

@t1nick Just the one researcher, whom no one can replicate. If I'm wrong about the current scientific consensus, mea culpa.

@t1nick Here's the link, if you can refute it please post: [theness.com]

@Druvius

Intetesting article. All new information for me. The source of my observation was recent claims in reputable periodicals for DNA >65 MYBP. DNA is not in my baliwick. So I'll defer to you and this article. Very interesting though.
