Full disclosure: I'm not a professional scientist, per session. I operate a brewery and utilize my knowledge of sciences to achieve repeatable results. Beyond that, I'm just a fan.

Off topic, but I am an investor in a brewery and have done three business plans for others. Interested in learning more about yours and your plan. Cigar City was a favorite stop when visiting Tampa.

I always maintained that brewing was such a great mix of science and creativity. Have homebrewed for over a decade.

On topic, I am not a professional scientist either, but have have clung to and learned all I can since really early on. I have a Master's in Space Operations Management, which does not make me a Rocket Scientist either, but perhaps one who manages the fruits of science and engineering. My original goal, way back was a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Huge follower of space exploration and astrophysics.

What’s an “actual” scientist? A research professor? A drug manufacturer? A robotics engineer? Einstein? I’ve a geoenvironmental degree, I work as a surveyor, I consider myself a scientist. Not a high level scientist, but a scientist none the less.

I have a friend who spends all day in a lab verifying or falsifying claims, repeating tests. Lab work. She's who I think of as a text book professional scientist. But hey, if we're doing it right, we all use plenty of science every day.

Perhaps someone should start a poll, how many people here are "actual" scientists.

that's great! I use to be a scientist...but it got too political for me to care anymore. So I switched to teaching...LOVE IT.
