I have questions. @Lukians post about Clair Patterson got me thinking about lead exposures' wider effects. If I'm reading correctly we've all suffered various levels of lead exposure for at least the last 200 years between the burning of coal, lead in gas etc.. Does anyone know of any studies done/being done about the generational differences in lead exposure? Seems the millenials and beyond should be the least lead exposed generations in a long time. What if any differences are we seeing in their cognitive function and rates of mental illness, are any differences attributable to lessened lead exposure? Any leads(haha) would be appreciated.

It is too late to do scientific studies of the last 200 years of poisoning. Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but it provides some interesting implications of multigenerational effects:
BTW, some historians speculate that lead poisoning was a contributing factor to the fall of the Roman Empire.

@opposingOpposum I was going to raise the epigenetics angle which does article argues. Also Romans were also known to make lead acetate (when lead is dissolved in vinegar) a sweetener which they added to wine to make it sweeter. [en.wikipedia.org]
