Hi everyone. I just joined this group because although I can see that our main task is to support our brethren and sisteren in the USA who have it a lot harder than we do, it's nice to talk to people on the same page from time to time.

Not just the USA, largely secular tollerant western Europe is a very small enclave in a very big and bigoted world. Do not forget just how small we are.

Hi all,

As a foreigner living in the UK, I can only say that it feels immensely liberating and comfortable to live here.
Coming from Greece (where the Greek Orthodox church has a strong influence on social policies and state affairs), it feels refreshing to know that my (a-)religious views are not going to cause me discriminatory issues (before becoming agnostic, I used to be a Jehova Witness, yeah that was hard enough).

I feel for you. When my first husband lived in Greece 40 years ago, little old ladies would hit the ground and ask him not to take them to hell. He's black, so they thought he was the devil. He had great fun practising his Greek & negotiating a package for them.

I get what you mean, I could never live there for fear of being cast down due to religious reasons.

Hello from Cambridge. Nice to meet you. I joined this group for similar reasons and have found it friendly and stimulating. I hope you do too.

Hello Celia. I agree with your words which reveal the true toxicity of religion. It's a battle for the freedom to be.
