My Friend the Blind Rabbi
You were one of a million yellow stars
That didn’t ascend the sky
God spared you and your lovely wife
Only He knows why
I don’t know how many friends you made
Or how many friends and loved ones you lost
It must have been horrendous lose so many
Living through and seeing those fanatics
And their holocaust
You displayed, me, the numbers
Tattooed on your arm
It brought forth sadness, tears, and shock
To a young man’s known world of calm
I don’t know when you lost your sight
And found you could not see
I hope it wasn’t as bad
As reliving that evil in memory
You survived Auschwitz
Your wife survived Birkenau
I’d really like to know how you survived it
But personally
I’ll never know how
To think of all those souls
So wrongfully taken
To think of all those beautiful children
Gone before their eyes awakened
I hope again I do get to see you
In this world, or perhaps the next
For you’re the ones who taught me
LEST WE FORGET
Posted by EntheogenFanI wrote this about a crazy girl who I loved like crazy. She made my entire life feel like insanity.
